Youth power is one of the greatest assets of this world, if we can use it in the right direction. By knowing this great source of power nation's political parties, cults, and hate groups, manufacturers of cigarettes, alcoholic drinks, etc., are always trying to target this group to achieve their goals. In order to create a faithful generation for their philosophies, organizations and product manufacturers always target the Youth. The churches need to realize the great challenge at hand today; that is to make use of the Youth Power and use it in the right direction. The churches need to be willing to accommodate our youths without compromising the Biblical Doctrines. We need to be receptive to the needs of our Youth, even if, we have to compromise some of our old traditions. Most common problem we see in the churches today is that they do not want to compromise on anything. Because of that the generation gap is widening day by day. Unless we are able to close this gap without compromising the doctrines, we are on the wrong track. Most of the churches are creating second and third class members. Because of this the spiritual depth is slipping away and the generation gap is widening in the churches. What we need today is to give opportunities for our Youths so that they can be drawn closer to God.
If you want to be effective for God, you should have a direct relationship with God. Biblical story of Abraham and Lot is a prime example. In Genesis 12: 1 we read "Now the LORD had said unto Abram, Get thee out of thy country, and from thy kindred, and thy father's house, unto a land that I will shew thee:". If you read the later chapters of Genesis we can see that Lot Abraham's cousin also went with him. When Abraham was asking God for His guidance, Lot was making decision based on the appearance and wealth of the land. God had called out Abraham to take him to a land chosen by God Himself. Lot chose a land by himself and the story of Sodom and Gomorrah is very clear. In order for the churches to be effective with full of power and spirit we need to have people who have first hand experience with God and knowledge of God. Second hand experience and knowledge are very dangerous and it will weaken the very power of the church.
Biblical Doctrines has to stay unchanged because it is the unchanging Word of God. Bible says, "Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today and forever." At the same time we should be willing to change our traditions and man made practices in accordance with the need of the time. Most of the traditions and practices in the churches today do not come from the Bible, rather, it came from our backgrounds we were brought-up. When that background changes we should be willing to change. When I make this argument I know that there is no compromise in the doctrines. Whether you lived in the 1st century or live in the 20th century it does not matter, the doctrine of Salvation, Seperation, Holiness, etc. is the same. Whether the Children of Israel were in Egypt, in the Wilderness or in the Land of Caanan God expected complete obedience from them. The same principle applies today. Our situations should not be an excuse for any of us to get away from God. When you are in a difficult situation you should get closer to God so that you can receive more grace from God to face the difficult situations. Our God is a God, who is able to help us in our troubles and guide us in the right path to take us to our final destination.
Following are some of the steps we can take in our churches to accomodate and encourage our youths.
1. When we make spiritual and personal decisions in the church consider the younger generation and their needs as one of the top priority for that decision.
2. Declare a Youth Sunday once every 2 or 3 months and train and allow the youths to get invovled more in the worship by leading the music, taking part in prayer, exortation and preaching the word of God.
3. Organize special programs and activities for the youths in the churches so that we can keep them occupied in christian atmosphere. Make it as a regular activity of the church.
4. During Summer vacation time organize more activites for the youths in the churches. These activities can be spiritual, educational and recreational in nature.
It is high time for the churches to face the reality and take up the challange. Let us work toward bringing our young generation closer to God. Churches take this as a challenge and Mission in the coming days.
May God help us to do great things for Him.

The church forms the body of Christ. The body serves as beautiful picture of the life of the church. An individual's body has many parts serving various functions. This consists of people serving Christ in many ways according to the different gifts Christ has given. The church emphasizes the gifts which come together to serve one purpose. The emphasis is not the uniformity of these gifts but rather the diversity which Christ brings together and uses for His purpose. In Romans 12: 6-8 states these various gifts. "We have different gifts according to the grace given us. If a man's gift is prophesying let him use it in proportion to his faith. If it is serving , let him serve; if it is teaching, let him teach; if it is encouraging, let him encourage; if it is contributing to the need of others, let him give generously; if it is leadership, let him govern diligently; if it is showing mercy, let him do it cheerfully." I would like to expound on the gift of encouragement.
WHO NEEDS ENCOURAGEMENT ?
What does it mean to encourage? It is uplift, brighten and console someone who may be distressed emotionally, physically or spiritually. Everyone needs encouragement. In Romans 1:11-12 Apostle Paul states "I long to see you that I may impart to you some spiritual gift to make you strong that is that you and I may be mutually encouraged by each other's faith." Discouragement is a problem for many Christians. They may be distressed about their health, family, work and even spiritual service. In spiritual service, they compare themselves to others who are talented in music, teaching , praying , and other gifts, but they fail to realize the ministry of encouragement is for everyone. For example, a pastor was under a dark cloud of gloom when a woman came and said "God Bless You Pastor, If you could only know how you have made me feel good hundreds of time." That word of encouragement broke through the dark cloud of despair and brought rays of sunlight of joy and he felt refreshed to go on. Even If You Have Nothing Else To Give You Can Always Give Encouragement.
HOW TO ENCOURAGE WHEN SOMETHING IS NOT RIGHT?
In Revelation 2: 1-7, we read about the church of Ephesus. Ephesus church had many good qualities v.2 "I know your deeds, your hard work and your perseverance. I know that you cannot tolerate wicked men, that you have tested those who claim to be apostles but are not, and have found them false. v.3 You have persevered and have endured hardships for my name, and have not grown weary. v.4 Yet I hold this against you: You have forsaken your first love." There is proper way this should be done. For example, An 8 yr old had come to bat three times. He strikes out twice but hits the ball once. After the game, a famous ball player approaches him and says "Danny, I like the way you hit that single and hustled to first; you will be a great ball player some day." Danny is receptive and eager to improve. The the ball player states the problem and his suggestion to change his approach to hit the ball. The advice is heeded because it combines commendation with correction. Likewise, Jesus said that about the Ephesus church. That is how God motivates us. He reminds us of what we can become.
God's Commendation Gives Us Encouragement:
God's Correction Gives Us Hope.
WHY WE NEED TO ENCOURAGE?
We need to encourage because the need is great. 2 Timothy 4:16-17, "At my first defense, no one came to my support, but everyone deserted me. May it not be held against them. But the Lord stood at my side and gave me strength ........" Apostle Paul understood the need to be encouraged, he encountered many situations that a word of hope would have dispelled some of his anxious thoughts. At his execution only Luke and the Lord was with him to maintain a clear witness. A positive word at the right time has its value more than of gold or any other riches. For example, Mother Bickerdyke was helping during war time. She was giving special attention to a man considered worthless by his comrades. She was asked "Why do you waste your time on trash like that? She replied " because when there is any creature around here so miserable that there is nobody to care for him, he still has 2 friends in this army; one is God, other is me. When we face struggles, we should encourage one another to continue on.
All Around Are Needs To Meet: Be God's Heart, Hands and Feet.
WHAT HAPPENS WHEN WE ENCOURAGE?
When we encourage we see added strength and unity. For example, geese fly together in a "V" formation. It is because when each bird flaps its wings, it creates an updraft for the bird behind it. They can go 70% farther in a group than if they flew alone. Christians are the same; they are propelled by the thrust of others who share the same goals. Geese also honk; they are encouragers. Those in the rear sound off to exhort those up in the front to stay on course and maintain their speed. Likewise, Christians move ahead easily if there is someone behind us encouraging us to stay on track and to keep going.
We Can Go Alot Farther Together Than We Can Alone.
There are three types of people you will meet.
1) draining- Jesus spent most of his time with these. They are always in want and constantly seeks attention.
2) neutral- casual contacts. They do not influence you in any way.
3) replenishing- people who give something back. Jesus had this relationship with Lazarus, Mary, and Martha. Their love and presence uplifted the Lord. They were encouragers.
Ask yourself which one are you?
A smile, a word, a touch.
And each is easily given.
To rescue somone from despair
or smooth the way to heaven.
HOW TO GO A-BOUT B-EING C-HRISTIAN
(THE ABCs OF CHRISTIAN LIVING)
SCRIPTURE READING: ROMANS 12
Be not overcome of evil, but overcome evil with good (Romans 12:21)
In Romans chapter 12, Paul gives guidelines (The ABC's of Christian Living) for living as redeemed people in a fallen world. We are to abhor that which is evil (A-lways Denounce Sin), fervent in spirit; serving the Lord (B-e Dependable in Serving) give ourselves to Christ as living sacrifices (C-ontinue Dedication of Self). He closes in verse 21 with the paradigm, a radical view/mindset, "Be not overcome of evil, but overcome evil with good."
I. A-lways Denounce Sin
"Abhor that which is evil; cleave to that which is good" (Romans 12:9).
A. Abhor means to (shrink from, detest) that which is evil. Resist the devil and he will flee (James 4:7).
Although God and Satan are at war, we don't need to wait until the end to see who will win. God has already defeated Satan (Col. 2:13-15; Rev. 12:10-12), and when Christ returns, Satan and all he stands for will be eliminated forever (Rev. 20:10-15). Satan is here now, however, and he is trying to win us over to his evil cause. With the Holy Spirit in our lives, we can resist Satan and he will flee from us.
B. The Christian is to denounce sin everywhere at work, at play, at home watching TV. Denounce violence, lust (2 Cor. 6:17).
Separation from the world involves more than keeping our distance from sinners; it means staying close to God (2 Cor. 7:1,2). It involves more than avoiding entertainment that leads to sin; it extends as well into how we spend our time and money. In this fallen world, there is no way to separate ourselves totally from all effects of sin. Nevertheless, we are to resist the sin around us, not give up and give in. There are many salt water fish, when cut opened, are not salty to taste on the inside.
C. Cleave to that which is good. Be so busy doing good and being good that there is not time for evil (James 4:8).
How can you draw close to God? James gives five suggestions: (1) "Give yourselves humbly to God" (Jam. 4:7).
Realize that you need his forgiveness, and be willing to follow him. (2) "Resist the devil" (Jam. 4:7). Don't allow him to entice and tempt you. (3) "Wash your hands" (that is, lead a pure life) and "let your hearts be filled with God" (Jam. 4:8). Be cleansed from sin, replacing it with God's purity. (4) Let there be tears, sorrow, and sincere grief for your sins (Jam. 4:9). Don't be afraid to express deep heartfelt sorrow for them. (5) "Realize your worthlessness" (Jam. 4:10). Humble yourself before God, and he will lift you up (1 Peter 5:6).
II. B-e Dependable in Serving
"Fervent in spirit; serving the Lord" (Rom. 12:11)
A. Serve with your time. Take time to call, witness, and win the lost to Jesus Christ (Ps. 90:12).
It is easy to forget how short life really is. Realizing that life is short helps us use the little time we have more wisely. It helps us concentrate on using our lives for eternal good, not just for the pleasure of the moment. Take time to number your days by asking, "What do I want to see happen in my life before I die? What small step could you take toward that purpose today?
B. Serve with your talent. Everyone can do something for God. Give a kind word, a smile, a helping hand (2 Cor. 6:1).
How could the Corinthian believers toss aside God's message? Perhaps they were doubting Paul and his words, confused by the false teachers who taught different message. "To toss aside this message" can also be translated "to receive the grace of God in vain."
The people heard God's message, but did not let it affect what they said and did. How often does God's message reach you in vain? Yield to the holy spirit now! Commit yourself to use the precious talent for the furtherance of His kingdom. Time is running out! The Lord is asking you to serve with your talent.
C. Serve with your treasure. Money is needed to meet church obligations. Money given to God's work is saved (Matt. 6:19-21).
We have all heard of people who have won millions of dollars and then lost it all. Even the average person can spend an inheritance or a paycheck with lightning speed and have little to show for it. Don't spend you time chasing fleeting earthly treasures. Instead store up treasures in heaven, for such treasures will never be lost. Money used as an end in itself quickly traps us and cuts us off from both God and the needy. The key to using money wisely is to see how much we can use for God's purposes, not how much we can accumulate for ourselves. Does God's love touch your wallet? Does your money free you to help others? If so, you are storing up lasting treasures in heaven. You cannot separate what you do from what you believe. What you treasure reveals your true priorities. If your priorities were judged by where you put your time, your money, and your energy, what would the verdict be? How should you change the way you use your resources so it more accurately reflects kingdom values? Should all believers sell everything they own? No, because we must be responsible for caring for our own needs and the needs of our families so as not to be a burden on others. We should, however, be willing to give up anything if God asks us to do so. This kind of attitude allows nothing to come between us and God and keeps us from using our God-given wealth selfishly. We cannot love God with all our hearts and keep our money to ourselves. Loving him totally means using our money in ways that please him.
III. C-ontinue Dedication of Self.
"Present your bodies a living scarifice...." (Rom. 12:1).
A. Read God's Word. It is a guide, a chart to shows where to go and what to do (Ps.119:11).
Storing God's Word in our hearts and minds is a deterrent to sin. This alone should inspire us to want to memorize Scripture. However, memorization alone will not keep us from sin; we must also put God's Word to work in our lives.B. Pray. Be always in the spirit of prayer. We are privileged to commune and fellowship with God (Luke 18:1).
To repeat our prayers until the answer comes does not mean endless repetition or painfully long prayer sessions. Constant prayer means keeping our requests constantly before God as we live for Him day by day, and always believing he will answer. When we thus live by faith, we are not to give up. God may delay answering, but his delays always have good reasons, and we must not confuse them with neglect. As we persist in prayer we grow in character, faith, and hope. How can anyone pray all the time? One way to pray constantly is to make quick, brief prayers your habitual response to every situation you meet throughout the day. Another way is to order your life around God's desires and teachings so that your very life becomes a prayer. You don't have to isolate yourself from other people and from daily work in order to pray constantly. You can make prayer your life and your life a prayer while living in a world that needs God's powerful influence.
C. Surrender all to God. Live with a yielded-to-God attitude (1 Cor. 6:19-20).
What did Paul mean when he said that God owns our bodies? Many people say they have the right to do whatever they want with their own bodies. Although they think this is freedom, they are really enslaved to their own desires. When we become Christians, the Holy Spirit fills our lives and lives in us. Therefore, we no longer own our bodies. If you live in a building owned by someone else, you don't violate the building rules. Since your body belongs to God, you must not violate His standards for living.
In 1 Peter 1:18-19, Peter reminds us that "God paid a ransom to save you from the impossible road to heaven which your fathers tried to take, and the ransom he paid was not mere gold or silver, as you very well know... But he paid for you with the precious lifeblood of Christ, the sinless, spotless Lamb of God."
God has good, pleasing, and perfect plans for his children. He wants us to be new people with freshness of thought and alive to glorify Him. Since He wants only what is best for us, and since He gave His Son to make our new lives possible, we should joyfully offer ourselves as living sacrifices for Him. The How to go A-bout B-eing C-hristian (The ABC's of Christian Living) guidelines outlined above will help you to offer yourselves as holy living sacrifices to God Almighty. It will also help you in overcoming evil with good!!
Remember, DON'T FORGET YOUR ABC's!!
By: Justin Joseph, New York
Justin Joseph is a 17 year old Senior at NewMilford High School. He is very active in youth and other activities of the Church of God, Queens, in New York. He plans to major in Communications.
You and I are in a race. The starting line is called birth, and there is still a long way to go. But unlike other races, in this one, you just keep running, because, you can't see finish line. Somewhere along the way, your running mates will disappear, but you must keep going. Good luck. Trust me, you're going to need it.
As youth, we are not favored to win this race. Somewhere along the way, our true enemy, the devil will tempt you to stop, and go the other way. If you overcome these temptations, beware, the devil is not done. Immediately, he'll place seemingly impossible hurdles in your lane. These hurdles are called "drugs", "alcohol", "violence", and the "lusts of the flesh." You cross one, and the next one is waiting practically screaming, "Come on, you'll never make it."
Face it, as youth we are considered vulnerable, weak, and helpless. In Satan's eyes, we're nothing more than victims. True, our chances may seem low, after all we are the underdogs, but we haven't been eliminated yet. Satan thought he had us, but then he found out who our coach was. Our coach finished this same race without a blemish, and Satan cannot forget it.
As Malayalee Pentecostal youth, sometimes we feel trapped between our traditions, our elders, and our church politics. But today, Christ is making his final cuts. He's not looking for the biggest. He's not looking for the richest. In fact, he's not even looking for the fastest runners. This coach knows how tough the race can be, and he's looking for anyone ready to take up the challenge. "To him that overcometh will I grant to sit with me in my throne, even as I also overcome, and am set down with my father in his throne." No doubt, the race is tough, and turning back seems much easier, but don't forget that Jesus had to die, just so that you could even have a chance to run. Look straight ahead at that finish line, whenever that may be, and remember, there is no second place.
May God Bless you !!!!
IS PHYSICAL HEALING A THING OF THE PAST ??
By: Rajeev Chandra, St. Louis, Missouri
Introduction
Is physical healing contained in the atoning death of Jesus Christ? This is one of the most frequently asked questions by modernday Christians. Even Pentecostals have a difficult time accepting the view of certain Bible-Expositors that it is God's desire and intention to heal His children of their bodily afflictions even in this present day. Evangelical Christians claim that God has ceased to heal since the time of the apostles. Liberals, biased by their anti-supernatural worldview, claim that the verse Is. 53:5 "...and with His stripes we are healed" holds only a promise of spiritual healing. Some theologians claim that healing is automatic and an integral part of the salvation process. Some preach that if you are not healed and still remain in your sickness, you lack faith in God since healing is the bread of a child of God.
What is the truth behind all these doctrines? This paper will investigate and address what the Bible has to say about physical healing and the atonement.
Restorative Work in the Atoning Death of Jesus Christ
In the beginning God created all things. He inspected His creation and found that every thing He created was very good (Gen. 1:31). Nothing was vile or corrupted. Sin entered into the perfect creation and brought forth corruption and death (Gen. 3:19). Death or returning into dust coupled with sickness was a part of the curse on man as a result of sin. God also smites man with sickness as a direct punishment for sin (Mic. 6:13).
Jesus Christ, the anointed or the chosen one, came into the world to become the sacrificial lamb of God to bear all curses of mankind upon Himself. He was the fulfillment of the Old Testament prophecy and the sacrifice was a perfect one; He was the propitiation for all curses upon mankind. His body was broken instead of ours (I Cor. 11:24), His blood was shed instead of ours (Mt. 26:28), His spirit suffered rejection instead of ours (Mt. 27:46) and His Soul was exceedingly sorrowful instead of ours (Mk. 14:34). In essence, the sacrificial death of Jesus Christ was for the consummate man: the body, soul and spirit. If we do not accept the atonement in its totality we are guilty of diminishing the value of the sacrificial death of Christ.
As a result of the death and glorification of Jesus Christ, the Holy Spirit was poured out on the Christian believers (Jn. 16:7, Acts 2:4). The Holy Spirit was the earnest of the believer's inheritance till the day of ultimate reconciliation to God (Eph. 1:14). The Holy Spirit imparted gifts to whom he desired so that all who believed in the Name of Jesus would profit and may have a foretaste of the glory that awaited them on the day of ultimate reconciliation. Paul describes nine such gifts of the Holy Spirit of which the gifts of healing is the fifth (I Cor. 12:8-10). Since the dispenser of the gift of healing, the Holy Spirit, was given as a direct result of the atoning death and resurrection of Jesus Christ(Jn. 16:7), it can be concluded that there is indeed healing in the atonement.
Has Healing Ceased?
Cessationists believe that all supernatural works of God along with healing have ceased since the time of the apostles. This is contrary to statement made by the author of the book of Hebrews that "Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, and today, and forever" (Heb 13:8). Today, multitudes of sick are experiencing physical healing by the touch of the nail-scarred hand of Jesus just as it was when He walked on the shores of the Sea of Galilee.
Does Isaiah 53:5 Include the Concept of Physical Healing?
Jesus died to redeem the whole man (body, soul and spirit) and it would diminish the value of His sacrifice to leave out the body. The heart of God is brought out in the following text:
God is saddened by doubts that healing is in the atonement because they represent too narrow a view of sickness and healing. The words used in Isaiah 53:4,5 and quoted in Matt. 8:16-17 for griefs and sorrows and stripes in KJV English are used of both physical and spiritual as well as mental and social problems for which we use the words: infirmities, weaknesses, sicknesses, illnesses, pains, afflictions, wounds, or other expressions of sufferings. Therefore, the Near Eastern world view behind the Bible Scripture is very clear that our body will be redeemed on the day of ultimate reconciliation (Rom. 8:23). If the body will be redeemed to enjoy eternal life and health then it is reasonable to assume that temporal life holds healing for the body.
Is Healing Automatic with Salvation?
Sickness is not automatic with the fall. Sin separated man from God and brought forth death and sickness to mankind. This present age is not an age of judgement but is one of grace. God does not necessarily judge and punish evil straightaway. A final judgement day is approaching, when all will be held
There is no formula to God's functioning. He is sovereign and will not and cannot be manipulated. Healing is a sovereign work of God and man cannot twist God's arm. It is wrong to tag a person who functions in a healing ministry as a "faith healer" since it is neither faith nor the person that heals but God. God may have given him the gift of healing, but healing is definitely a work of God to be executed at His divine will and pleasure.
CONCLUSION
It is impossible to please God without faith in what He is and can do. He is a compassionate God who forgives all iniquities and heals all diseases (Ps. 103:3). When we come into His presence as His children and ask Him for whatever we need, without limiting His power or trying to manipulate Him, our God who is so rich in mercy (Eph. 2:4) will heed our cry, realize how frail we are and will certainly answer our prayer.accountable for their actions (Rev. 20:11-15). So, in this temporal life neither sickness is automatic with sin nor healing with salvation.
